Insight Focus online omnibus survey Q3 2017 conducted in Hong Kong, interviewing over 1000 consumers through online research.
Interestingly it revealed the top 5 favourite mooncake brands in Hong Kong. They are as follows:
- Maxim’s 美心 (21%)
Maxim’s has been the top performing mooncake sales brand over many years, assuring that they are 100% made in Hong Kong. At the same time they are always represented and endorsed by reputable celebrities for its marketing campaign. It offers a variety of choices to cater for everyone’s taste, becoming the most favourite Hong Kong mooncake brand. A trending favourite among the younger generation is the lava custard mooncake.
- Wing Wah 荣华 (15%)
Hong Kong most well-known and long standing mooncake brand throughout history, it was established in 1950. Most will have consumed Wing Wah from a young age till present, delicious taste is guaranteed, therefore Wing Wah mooncakes have secured second place as top favourite this year. At the same time, they offer a range of classical and traditional Cantonese foods which are popular among Hong Kong consumers.
- Taipan 大班 (12%)
Snow Skin mooncake was created by Taipan, which is an alternative to the greasy traditional mooncake. It is an innovative take on the traditional mooncake with a variety of different flavors and a unique taste, which appeals to the younger generation.
- Kee Wah 奇华 (10%)
Is positioned as the fourth favourite, established in 1938 it has been a longstanding favourite among consumers. With creative gift box designs including traditional and modern Hong Kong elements, the premium packaging and variety of mooncake gift sets appeals to a gift giving audience. Kee Wah is also a popular souvenir brand of Hong Kong.
- Peninsula 半岛酒店 (7%)
Peninsula has been described as the “Rolls Royce of Mooncakes”. Peninsula’s Spring Moon limited edition homemade mini egg custard mooncakes are extremely popular, every year it is sold out when released prior to mid-autumn festival, It is a highly sought after luxurious gift.

- Arome 东海堂 (6%)
- Häagen-Dazs 哈根达斯 (5%)
- Starbucks 星巴克 (4%)
- Hang Heung 恆香 (3%)
- Others 其他 (17%)
